Rutgers Field Hockey Selected for NCAA Tournament

Scarlet Knights will face play-in winner

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – A historic season for Rutgers field hockey will continue in the NCAA Tournament. The Scarlet Knights earned the No. 1 seed in the nation, and will host the winner of the play-in game between Delaware and Fairfield at 11 a.m. on Friday.

"To be able to keep the season going in NCAA Tournament play is amazing," head coach Meredith Civico said. "To have won the tournament in the best field hockey conference in the NCAA is going to set us up for success moving forward. We're so grateful to be able to continue to play.

The NCAA Tournament appearance is the fourth in the program's history. RU last made the NCAA Tournament in 2018, and also went to the NCAA Tournament in 1986 and 1984. The Scarlet Knights are 2-3 all-time in NCAA Tournament play. The Scarlet Knights have 11 members of the current roster with NCAA Tournament playing experience.

"Every girl on this team deserves this," Gianna Glatz said. "Everyone put 100% of themselves into this. To be in this position going into the NCAA Tournament is amazing."

Rutgers field hockey had a historic season, setting program records in wins, ranked wins, conference wins and top-10 wins. The team captured the Big Ten Tournament Championship on Sunday, defeating Michigan 1-0.

RU will play at home, where they just won three games in four days to clinch the league's automatic bid. The Scarlet Knights are 15-1 at home over the past two seasons.
