Scarlet Knights get scoring contributions from 13 different players and record 24 assists
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's basketball (5-7) returned to the win column with a complete team effort on Sunday, defeating Delaware State (0-8) by a score of 74-36 at Jersey Mike's Arena. The victory snapped a six-game skid as the offense tied its highest output of the season.
All 16 Scarlet Knights saw action in the victory, with 13 scoring points and 14 grabbing a rebound. Rutgers dominated every phase of the game, including bench points (51-9) as the Rutgers reserves outscored the Hornets' total score.
Awa Sidibe led all scorers with 15 points on a near-perfect shooting day, going a perfect 5-of-5 from the field, 1-of-1 from three, and 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Sakima Walker scored 11 with seven rebounds, while Tyia Singleton, Osh Brown, and Chyna Cornwell all added eight points apiece.
RU cleaned up the glass, 40-20, and assisted on 24 of its 30 field goals. The Scarlet Knights committed a season-low 11 turnovers while outscoring DSU, 21-2, on points off turnovers.
Rutgers has a quick turnaround with another home tip on Tues., Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. against Central Connecticut State at Jersey Mike's Arena and streaming live on B1G+.

- Rutgers produced its highest-scoring first quarter of the season with 17 behind Awa Sidibe's eight points while holding the Hornets to three points in the opening period.
- Lasha Petree started the second on a personal 5-0 run to set the margin at 19. Chyna Cornwell scored four points in the period, while Delaware State mustered its best offensive quarter with 13, but trailed 33-16 at the break.
- Sakima Walker led an 8-0 run midway through the period to set the score at 45-20.
- Victoria Morris hit a three-pointer, part of her five fourth-quarter points, to start the first of two 6-0 runs in the fourth.

- The Scarlet Knights had at least 10 players score in a game for the seventh time this season.
- Awa Sidibe, a transfer from JUCO Salt Lake, recorded her Division I career-high in points with 15.
- Chyna Cornwell registered a career-high eight points in her sophomore season.
- Sidibe is Rutgers' 10th different player to lead or tie for the team-lead in points in a game this season.
- The Rutgers bench (51 points) outscored an opponents' total for the third time this season (Saint Peter's and South Alabama).
- Rutgers' 24 assists were the most in a game since 25 against Hampton on Dec. 18, 2020.
- RU's .545 shooting percentage is a season high and the best in a game since the .547 mark in the Hampton game on Dec. 18, 2020.
- The Scarlet Knights held Delaware State 10 points under their season scoring average. Rutgers has held opponents under their scoring average in 29 of its last 31, and 116 of its last 126 dating back to 2017-18.
- Double-figure scoring career marks: Sidibe (3rd), Walker (4th).
- Rutgers is undefeated at 5-0 when outscoring opponents in points off turnovers and points on the fast break. RU is 0-7 when trailing in those specialty categories.
- The Starting 5 of Jailyn Mason, Shug Dickson, Lasha Petree, Tyia Singleton, and Osh Brown took the opening tip for the fifth consecutive game. It is the seventh different starting variation employed by acting head coach Timothy Eatman this season.
- Rutgers won its first meeting against Delaware State.
