Huang and Joyner Punch Tickets to NCAA Regionals as All-Arounders

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers gymnastics senior Belle Huang and sophomore Hannah Joyner qualified as individuals in the all-around for the 2021 NCAA Championships. The pair will compete in the Morgantown Regional hosted at West Virginia University set for April 1-3.

Huang, a First Team All-Big Ten and All-Championship Team honoree, qualified for her third NCAA Regional. The senior first punched her ticket as an all-arounder in 2018 and on floor in 2019.
Over the weekend, the Gaithersburg, Maryland, native placed third on beam and fourth in all-around at the Big Ten Championships, recording a 9.9 on beam and a career-high 39.350 in the all-around. Huang finished first on floor and beam in RU's Session I win at the Championships, while finishing second in all-around in the session.
The American Athletic, Inc. (AAI) Award Nominee has competed in all 10 meets for the Scarlet Knights this season, reaching top results of 39.350 in the all-around, 9.900 on beam, and career highs of 9.925 on floor and 9.875 on vault. Huang is the team leader on floor with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.881, having reached her career best of 9.925 again this year which is top 10 individual score in program history.

Joyner punches her ticket to the NCAAs for the first time in her young career. The sophomore owns career highs of 39.450 in all-around, 9.9 on vault, 9.9 on bars, 9.950 on beam and 9.9 on floor.
Joyner, a two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection, placed third on beam and in the all-around at the Big Ten Championships. Her score of 9.9 on beam and 39.375 in all-around topped all competitors in Session I of the Championships, helping push RU to its highest finish ever and post a program-record score at the meet. She was also named the All-Championship team.
The Waldorf, Maryland, native has competed in nine meets for the Scarlet Knights this year, posting team-leading NQS marks on vault, bars, beam and in the all-around. The sophomore recorded the school record on beam with a 9.950, having reached 9.9 on beam four times this year and 12 times in her career. With career-high 9.900s on floor and vault this year, Joyner became the first gymnast in RU history to eclipse 9.9 on all four events. She is the program leader with 15 total 9.9s in her career.
