Tennis Picks Up Doubles Point in Setback at Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. - Rutgers tennis picked up the doubles point in a 6-1 setback on the road at Minnesota Sunday afternoon. The Golden Gophers came from behind to claim the win with six singles victories.
In doubles play, redshirt senior Jaci Cochrane and freshman Daira Cardenas opened the match with a 6-1 win over their opponents at the No. 3 spot. Minnesota countered with a win at the number one spot to balance the doubles action.
At the No. 2 spot, junior Tess Fisher and freshman Alisa Prinyarux battled to a 7-6 (7-2) victory to capture the point and give RU a 1-0 lead in the match.
Fisher put up a fight at the No. 2 singles spot, rallying back from a 6-4 loss in the first set with a 6-2 win in the second. However she was edged 1-0 (10-7) in the third set, as the Gophers closed out the win in singles action.
Up next, Rutgers returns home to host Michigan on Saturday, March 13 and Michigan State on Sunday, March 14.
