PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer advanced to the Big Ten Tournament Semifinals for the second straight season and will matchup with Wisconsin this Thursday, April 15 in University Park, Pa. The match will be televised live on Big Ten Network at 7:30 p.m. ET. RUTGERS QUICK KICKS
- Rutgers (8-2-3, 6-2-3 Big Ten)Â collected victories over Michigan State by a score of 1-0 in double overtime and Ohio State by a score of 1-0 during Big Ten Regional Weekend to move on in the tournament.
- The Scarlet Knights advanced to their second straight Big Ten Semifinal and fourth overall since joining the league. RU finished in the Top 3 of the conference for the third consecutive year, tying for second in points this season.
- Senior forward Amirah Ali, a MAC Hermann Trophy Candidate and Senior CLASS Award finalist, leads the team with six goals this season. She extended her program record to nine golden goals with the game winner against Michigan State on Thursday.
- Junior goalkeeper Meagan McClelland has recorded six shutouts in net this season, moving to fourth on the Rutgers charts with a total of 26 career clean sheets.
- The RU defense has held all 13 opponents to single-digit shots on goal this year and eight to just single-digit shots overall.
- Ten different Scarlet Knights have contributed scoring this year led by Ali and senior forward Nneka Moneme with mutliple goals this season, while freshmen Sam Kroeger and Sara Brocious have each added a goal and a team-high three assists. Freshman Becci Fluchel has also added three assists this year.
- Rutgers is ranked No. 22 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, having been ranked or receiving votes in all polls this spring season. The Scarlet Knights have ranked or received votes in the Top 25 for the last 15 years. RU also ranked No. 23 in the latest Top Drawer Soccer Poll.
