
Kieran Mullins Named Senior CLASS Award Finalist

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers men's lacrosse attackman Kieran Mullins was named one of 10 finalists for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award. Having used an extra year of eligibilty to return this season, Mullins is a rare two-time candidate for the accolade.
Mullins was also named the recipient of the 2021 Wayne Duke Postgraduate scholarship, a high honor from the Big Ten selecting him as the lone male recipient in the league. The Islip, N.Y. native is a three-time captain who holds a 3.8 GPA while majoring in cell biology and neuroscience with minors in health & society and sociology. He has been a member of the Dean's List every semester to date, as well as a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, and received the RU Athletic Directors Award.
On the field, Mullins has been named honorable mention All-American, Scholar All-American, two-time All-Big Ten and All-ECAC standout. Mullins currently has 120 goals and 98 assists for 218 points, placing him second all-time in Rutgers history.
The Scarlet Knights have a rich history with all-around candidates being recognized by this award committee. Since joining the Big Ten, Max Edelmann, Michael Rexrode, Christian Trasolini, Scott Bieda and Joe Nardella have all been selected as Senior CLASS Award candidates.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
