PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse had three student-athletes recognized by Inside Lacrosse in their Midseason All-Americans listing. Joe Juengerkes was named to the Second Team, Colin Kurdyla was on the Third Team and Ryan Splaine was an Honorable Mention Selection.
The Scarlet Knights were tied for the most selections of any Big Ten team. All three of the trio were also named Preseason All-Americans by at least one publication.
Juengerkes was one of the top four short-stick defensive midfielders listed. The team captain from Islip, N.Y. has 33 ground balls and nine caused turnovers, along with five goals and two assists. He has scooped 88 ground balls and caused 25 turnovers in 27 games over two seasons as a Scarlet Knight.
Kurdyla was a Third Team attackman. The Bridgewater, N.J. native has led the RU offense this season with 27 goals, matching his previous career-high, and new career-highs with 23 assists and 50 points. He has 120 points over 41 collegiate games. A member of the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, he was named the National Offensive Player of the Week after posting consecutive nine-plus point games earlier this season, the first RU player with two in a season.
Splaine is coming off a week where he was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and onto the USILA Team of the Week. The Rockville, Md. native has 27 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers this season. The senior long-stick midfielder has 136 ground balls and 49 caused turnovers in 50 collegiate games.
This is the second straight season that RU had three Midseason All-Americans, with Juengerkes listed alongside Matthew Paolatto and Cardin Stoller last year. RU has had at least three Midseason All-Americans now in four of the past five years and multiple Midseason All-Americans in seven of the last eight listings published.
