Two Scarlet Knights to Play in Pan-American Lacrosse Men’s Championship

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse alumn Colin Kirst and current men's lacrosse assistant coach Drake Porter are set to play in an upcoming international tournament. Kirst (USA) and Porter (Canada) will compete in Kingston, Jamaica, as both goalkeepers will be in action during the Pan-American Lacrosse Men's Championships starting on August 16 through the gold medal game on August 23.
The event will take place on the campus of the Mico University College and Stadium East. The competition will run from August 16-23. The international men's lacrosse tournament will feature nine national teams from the Pan-American region and will serve to qualify teams from the Pan-American region for the 2027 World Lacrosse Men's Championship in Japan.
USA is in Pool A and will have Pool Play games on Tuesday (3:30 pm vs. Puerto Rico), Wednesday (6 pm vs. Jamaica) and Friday vs. Colombia (3:30 pm).
Canada is in Pool B and will play on Monday (2 pm vs. Mexico), Tuesday (6 pm vs. Haudenosaunee), Thursday (1 pm vs. the US Virginia Islands) and Friday vs. Argentina (1 pm).
Kirst spent two seasons at Rutgers as the starting goalkeeper, compiling a 55.1% save percentage and 10.95 goals-against-average. He made 336 saves and held a record on 24-8, as he led RU to the NCAA Tournament in both years, with a 3-2 record in NCAA games as he backstopped RU to the 2022 Final Four and 2021 Elite Eight. The Bernardsville, N.J. native was a two-time All-American and two-time First Team All-Big Ten Selection, including being named the Big Ten Specialist of the Year in 2021. He plays professional lacrosse with the Boston Cannons in the PLL.
Porter originally joined the Rutgers coaching staff ahead of the 2025 season and has spent two seasons on the Scarlet Knights staff working with the team's specialists (goalkeepers and faceoff). He has been key in mentoring RU goalkeeper Cardin Stoller, an All-American and two-time All-Big Ten selection. As a player, the native of Ontario was a Tewaaraton Award Watch List selection in 2021, Second Team All-American and Scholar All-American in 2020 and All-ACC selection in 2019 playing for Syracuse, twice leading the ACC in save percentage. Porter played professionally for the New York Atlas and was a member of Team Canada's U-19 Silver Medal Squad and World Games Gold Medal Team in 2022 and also participated in Fall Classic Scrimmages from 2019 to 2023.
