Joyner finished second overall on beam among all Session I and II competitors at the Morgantown Regional
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Senior Belle Huang and sophomore Hannah Joyner represented Rutgers gymnastics at NCAA Regionals on Friday afternoon . The Scarlet Knights competed as individual qualifiers in the all-around in Session I at the Morgantown Regional.
Joyner finished third in the all-around of Session I, posting a mark of 39.325. The sophomore placed second overall on beam among all Morgantown Regional competitors in Session I and II with a 9.925. She eclipsed 9.9 on beam for the sixth time this year and 13th time in her career. Joyner opened the meet with a strong 9.750 on vault, going on to add a 9.800 on bars. The Waldorf, Maryland, native concluded her day with a 9.850 on floor.
Huang recorded an all-around mark of 38.325 in her third NCAA Regional appearance and second as an all-around competitor. The Gaithersburg, Maryland, native highlighted her outing with a solid performance on floor. Huang registered a score of 9.825 in the event to cap her outing.
The Scarlet Knights await results from Session II later today and tomorrow's finals for the final results of the Morgantown Regional. The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national championships. The top event specialist at each regional who is not part of an advancing team or all-around competitor will also advance in that event only.
