Men’s Golf Set for 2021 Big Ten Championships at Crooked Stick

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's golf heads to the postseason as it competes at the 2021 Big Ten Championships Friday through Sunday in Carmel, Indiana. The three-round, 54-hole tournament will be played at the Crooked Stick Golf Club, a par 72, 7,325-yard venue.

Last Time at the Big Ten Championships
Behind top-10 results from Christopher Gotterup and Shayler Dance, Rutgers produced its best result at the Big Ten Championships in program history with its sixth-place finish in 2019 at the at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. Gotterup tied for fourth with his four-over-par 214, while Sellers tied for ninth with a nine-over-par 219. Gotterup was named to the All-Big Ten Championships team and Second Team All-Big Ten for his efforts.
Gotterup Reigning Big Ten Player of the Year
Gotterup enters the championships as the reigning Big Ten Player of the Year after last year's championships were cancelled due to COVID-19. Also a 2020 First Team All-Big Ten selection and the winner of the conference's Les Bolstad Award, Gotterup closed the 2020 season No. 23 nationally with his 70.39 adjusted scoring average. Despite the season being cut short, Gotterup helped RU to one of its best years in program history after it finished with the lowest team scoring average (288.74) and highest final team ranking (86) since 1993.
Gotterup has enjoyed similar success this season. Ranked as high as 20th this year in the PGA Tour University rankings, Gotterup has carded two top-three individual finishes this season, which included a tied for second result at the Schenkel Invitational on March 21 and a third-place result at the Rutherford Intercollegiate on April 18. Gotterup owns a 72.00 adjusted scoring average this season.
Last Time Out
Rutgers closed out the regular season at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on April 25 in Columbus. Gotterup and sophomore Xavier Marcoux finished within the top 40 to help the Scarlet Knights tie for ninth in the 17-team field.
