The Scarlet Knights are headed toward the most important events of the season with full momentum. Rutgers received its highest national ranking in program history at No. 4 following an exceptional weekend at the Big Ten Invitational on April 17 and 18, where 11 out of the 16 teams competing were ranked in the CRCA Poll. Rutgers claimed 12 races out of its 21 entries against a stacked field, including a sweep of then-No. 7 Alabama and Rutgers' first race win against a Michigan boat with the Wolverines ranked No. 6. Rutgers' First Varsity 8 won two Big Ten Boat of the Week honors in April leading up to championship season.
Last time at the Big Ten Championships in 2019, Rutgers scored its highest finish since joining the conference, placing fourth with 107 points - just behind third place Wisconsin's 109. During the 2019 championships, the Scarlet Knights earned their first Big Ten medals with a second place finish in the Second Varsity 4 and a third place ranking in the Third Varsity 4. Each boat either set a record finish or improved their place from the 2018 championships in their respective flights.
