FORT MYERS, Fla . – Sophomore libero/defensive specialist Madyson Chitty was named to the Homewood Suites FGCU Invitational All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of play on Saturday.
The Lewis Center, Ohio native averaged 4.91 digs per set as the Scarlet Knights finished the tournament with a 2-1 record.
In RU's sweep of USF, marking the first season-opening victory for the Scarlet Knights since 2013, Chitty posted a game-high 18 digs. She produced 19 digs against NCAA Tournament participant UMBC helping the Scarlet Knights overcome a 2-0 deficit for victory for the first time since 2012. Additionally, she had a game-high 17 digs against host FGCU.
Chitty is in her second season "On The Banks" after a freshman season that saw her start at libero in all 20 matches and help Rutgers to its best season in Big Ten play since joining the league in 2014. She finished her rookie campaign averaging 3.8 digs per set over the final four games of the season including 22 digs against Michigan State, the most by an RU player in Big Ten history.
