PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's head coach Kari Williams announced the promotion of Joanna Henry to associate head coach. Now in her sixth season "On the Banks," Henry has helped the Scarlet Knights card 22 top-five team finishes and program records for 18, 36 and 54-hole tournament scores.
"Having Joanna become the associate head coach is something we've had in the works for a while," Williams said. "She's vital to our program and an integral part of what we're trying to do here. When you have great people, you want to keep them around. It's a well-deserved promotion."
With Henry's assistance, RU has produced 31 WGCA All-America Scholars and 27 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars, in addition to being recognized by the Women's Golf Coaches Association as one of the nation's top 25 programs in academic performance in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
Last season, Rutgers carded its lowest 54-hole score in program history at the River Landing Classic on March 9 in Wallace, North Carolina. Maeve Rossi produced the program's second-lowest 54-hole individual scorecard (-4) at the River Landing Classic, while Anna-Maria Diederichs earned Big Ten Golfer of the Week accolades after she tied for 11th on March 24 at the Pinetree Invitational in Kennesaw, Georgia. Leigha Devine wrapped up the season by qualifying as one of 30 amateurs for the prestigious U.S. Women's Open, held from June 3-6 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.
Henry earned a masters in global sports business from Rutgers in 2019 and her bachelor's from Columbia, where she competed for the Lions. She posted a career low 71 (-1) in her sophomore season and concluded her career with three finishes in the top-fifteen, including a best finish in fourth place.
