ATHENS, Ga. – Rutgers women's golf finished second at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Monday in Athens, Georgia. The Scarlet Knights finished just three strokes behind host Georgia in the 16-team field for their second consecutive runner-up result of the spring after placing second at the City of Oaks Collegiate on March 22 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
"I'm really proud of our play this week," said head coach Kari Williams. "We started the round off slowly but steadied ourselves and found our scoring opportunities on the back nine. This was both a challenging golf course and a competitive field, and we played hard to earn our second-place finish. It was a full team effort and this momentum is fun to carry into our last events of the spring."
Sophomore Judy Amano paced RU with her one-under-par 215 (71-71-73) to finish sixth in the 89-player field. Redshirt senior Grace Lu (19th), sophomore Joline Truong (21st) and freshman Elizabeth Ryu (29th) all closed out the tournament in the top 30 to fuel Rutgers to its runner-up result.
" I am proud of the way that we finished these past two weeks," Lu said. "We worked and practiced hard, and to see that our efforts are paying off feels extremely rewarding. As for my individual performance, the start was definitely shaky, but I just trusted my process and was happy to be bounce back over the last two rounds."
The Scarlet Knights tallied a 14-over-par 878 (295-294-289), improving round after round while carding the third-lowest team result on Monday. The Bulldogs won the team title, while No. 42 Indiana placed third (+20). Georgia's Trinity Beth captured the individual title with a 10-under-par 206 (66-69-71).

In total, Amano closed the tournament with 14 birdies and an eagle after producing back-to-back one-under-par 71s on Saturday and Sunday.
