PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's golf delivered its first team win of the spring with its tournament title at the Rutgers Invitational on Sunday in Piscataway. Redshirt senior Grace Lu and junior Emily James carded tied-for-third finishes to help lead the Scarlet Knights to their third consecutive team title at the Rutgers Golf Course.
RU has produced three consecutive top-two team finishes after back-to-back runner-up results at the City of Oaks Collegiate in Raleigh, North Carolina and Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Georgia last month.
Freshman Elizabeth Ryu (T6) and sophomore Judy Amano (T10) gave the program four top-10 finishers for the weekend.
"I'm proud we were able to clinch the win," said head coach Kari Williams. "The team played hard and grinded today even after making a few mistakes. We've got a few days to refocus and prepare for Ohio State. We know the course will be a good challenge for us, but we will be ready."
With windy conditions present throughout both days of play, Rutgers finished 12 strokes ahead of Penn with a 44-over-par 896 (294-304-298). The Quakers carded a 56-over-par 908, followed by Dartmouth with a 58-over-par 910. Penn's Mi Li and Seton Hall's Marta Aguilar tied for first with six-over-par 219s.
Day Two – Sunday, April 12
Weather: Sunny, Temps in the low-50s, 5-15 mph winds
James and Lu both produced strong final rounds with two-over-par 73s. Lu finished Sunday with four birdies and tallied eight birdies across her three rounds. James rolled in birdies on holes four and 18 on Sunday, with her 13 pars helping her to a tied-for-third result.
Rookie Elizabeth Ryu also capped a strong tournament with a tied-for-sixth result after she produced a six-over-par 77. Sophomore Joline Truong moved up 17 spots on the leaderboard thanks to her four-over-par 75, highlighted by birdies on holes four, nine and 18.
Amano tied for 10th, while junior Krystal Li tied for 32nd in the 88-player field.

"We struggled this afternoon off the tee and found ourselves out of position too often," said head coach Kari Williams. "We'll be in a great spot tomorrow if we can clean that up and play like we have been at our recent events. I'm confident in how we prepared and know we can attack the course tomorrow."
