Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 9 Women’s Soccer Falls at No. 24 Georgetown, 1-0

WASHINGTON, D.C. – No. 9 Rutgers women's soccer (4-2-0) dropped a 1-0 final score at No. 24 Georgetown (3-0-4) on Sunday afternoon in the Nation's Capital.

The Scarlet Knights, who conceded a first-half goal on a corner kick in the 31st minute, made a furious push for an equalizer in the second half with six shots on goal compared to zero for the Hoyas. Georgetown goalkeeper Allie Augur made six of her eight saves over the final 45 minutes to keep the Hoyas unbeaten in 2021.

"Today was a tough one," said senior captain Shea Holland. "We created chances and had opportunities, but just couldn't find the back of the net. However, we will learn from this game and continue to grow."

Kassidy Banks, Amirah Ali, and Frankie Tagliaferri all took shots on target for the Scarlet Knights over the final 30 minutes of the contest, forcing saves from the Hoyas' keeper. Ali and Tagliaferri were joined by Sam Kroeger with two shots on goal apiece.

The Scarlet Knights head home to host Drexel at Yurcak Field on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. on Big Ten+.
