Volleyball Closes Out Nonconference Action At Big Orange Bash

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Rutgers volleyball team is plays its final nonconference contests on Friday at the Big Orange Bash hosted by Clemson. The Scarlet Knights take on ETSU at 10 a.m. and the host Tigers at 6:30 p.m.

| ABOUT THE SCARLET KNIGHTS |
- Rutgers heads into its final nonconference competition before gearing up for the Big Ten slate that features seven league teams in the AVCA Poll, including four among the nation's top 10.
- The Scarlet Knights improved to 7-2 after last weekend's Rutgers 9/11 Memorial Tournament and are out to their best start since 2012. The Scarlet Knights picked up a pair of sweeps against NJIT and Brown and forced five sets after falling behind 0-2 to NC State in a 2-3 setback. The three games also marked the first-ever matches at the RAC.
- The two sweeps last weekend brought RU's total up to five on the season thru nine games and mark the most by the team since 2012.
- Redshirt senior Shea McNamara was named to the all-tournament team, her second all-tournament accolade this season having been named to the UConn Challenge All-Tournament Team two weekends ago. The middle blocker totaled 17 blocks averaging 1.55 per set over the weekend's three contests. She also tied her season-high with 10 kills in the five-set matchup with NC State.
- The Scarlet Knights also had some movement on the career rally-era leaders list. Senior Inna Balyko moved up to seventh in career digs, while also surpassing the 200 career block assist mark. Fifth-year senior Beka Kojadinovic also moved into the top ten in block assists with 164 rejections.
- Kojadinovic continues to lead the attack with 3.29 kills per set and 11 aces on the year. Classmate Kamila Cieslik is second on the squad at 2.50 kills per set followed by senior Anastasiia Maksimova at 2.37 kills per set.
- Sophomore Kristina Grkovic, meanwhile, is hitting a team-best .398, which places her eighth among her Big Ten peers.
- Balyko, who has captured 2,900 career helpers and is fifth all-time and second in the rally era at Rutgers, checks in at 9.93 assists per set, which places her ninth in the Big Ten.
- Defensively, sophomore Madyson Chitty is currently averaging 4.59 digs per set, and is third in the Big Ten.
- At the net, McNamara is averaging 1.44 blocks per set. She is sixth in the category in the Big Ten.
| SCOUTING ETSU |
- The Buccaneers come to the Big Orange Bash at 3-5 overall having split matches at Winthrop last Friday and Saturday. The 3-0 victory on Saturday returned ETSU to the win column after having dropped three straight.
- Josannah Vazquez leads ETSU on the attack with 3.65 kills per set swinging a team-best .229 followed by Jenna Forster at 2.70 kills per frame. Caroline Dykes has been responsible for setting up the offense with 8.65 assists per set. Meanwhile, Sara Esposito and Taylor Roberts have both collected at team-leading six aces.
- Defensively, the Buccaneers look to Roberts at 4.35 digs per set and Lundyn Coffman at the net with a total of 20 blocks averaging at least one rejection each set.
| SCOUTING CLEMSON |
- The Tigers host this weekend's action entering at 5-3 overall and will face UNC Asheville before serving up action against the Scarlet Knights on Friday night. Clemson is coming off a 3-0 victory at home against Georgia State on Wednesday night.
- Offensively, Clemson is led by Kaylee Martin at 3.20 kills per set and followed by Camryn Hannah at 2.64 kills per set. On the set, Jenna Moore leads the Tigers at 9.91 assists per set, while Mckenna Slavik averaged 8.07 assists per stanza. Four Tigers, meanwhile, lead the squad having served up four aces on the year.
- The Tigers' Devan Taylor leads the defense with 3.68 digs per set while Ava Pritchard has racked up a total of 26 blocks with 1.18 stops at the net per set.

- The Scarlet Knights kick Big Ten action at home with No. 20 Penn State on Friday, Sept. 24 and No. 2 Wisconsin on Saturday, Sept. 25 at the RAC. Both games serve up action 7:00 p.m. with video coverage available on Big Ten Network Plus with Pat Boyle.

- Fans can enter with bags that are clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and approximately 12″ x 6″ x 12″, or one-gallon clear plastic bags or similar, and small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, can be taken into athletic venues. Exceptions will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection.
