Tennis Hosts Army Saturday for Season Opener

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers tennis hosts Army for its season opener on Saturday, January 22. Match time is set for 5 p.m. ET at the East Brunswick Racquet Club. The match will stream live through Playsight and will be accompanied by live results.
Fans are required to wear a mask while indoor the East Brunswick Racquet Club.
Rutgers, led by senior captain Tess Fisher, returns six letterwinners and welcomes two newcomers. Fisher is joined by fellow seniors Sydney Kaplan and Kristiana Zahare, while sophomores Chloe Brown, Daira Cardenas, and Alisa Prinyarux round out the returners. Freshmen Minchae Kim and Jackeline Lopez are set for their first spring season as Scarlet Knights.
Head Coach Hilary Ritchie enters her sixth year at the helm. Assistant Coach Catarina Lindqvist-Ryan enters her sixth season, while Volunteer Assistant Coach Arielle Shuren joins the staff for her first year.

Building off a year filled with adversity, the Scarlet Knights look to carry the momentum from their successes in 2021.The program powered through last year's competition, going on to record the most Big Ten victories in a single season and its first Big Ten Tournament appearance. RU posted victories over Michigan State, Indiana and two over Maryland.
In a slate that featured multiple ranked opponents, the Scarlet Knights recorded 30 doubles victories and 16 singles victories across dual and tournament action. In the classroom, all six student-athletes who were eligible this semester earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades, boosting a team term GPA of 3.788.
