Jan 25 | Women's Gymnastics
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Graduate Belle Huang of Rutgers gymnastics was named a Big Ten Specialist of the Week following the conference victory at Maryland. Huang competed in three events for the Scarlet Knights, highlighted by a career-high 9.950 on floor and a 9.900 on beam.
Huang finished first on floor with a career-best 9.950, placing first in the event. The captain posted the mark for the second straight week, having reached her new personal best in RU's home opener on January 15. She has reached 9.9 or higher on floor nine times in her career, the most of any RU gymnast.
On beam, Huang added a second-place finish with a 9.900, marking the sixth time she reached the 9.9 or higher and coming just shy of her career-high of 9.925. The Gaithersburg, Maryland, native also competed on vault, recording a 9.725
Overall, Huang's scores helped lift the Scarlet Knights to a team score of 195.550, a top 10 mark in program history, to claim the victory over the Terrapins. The result is the ninth highest team score and sixth best road score for RU.
Huang, who individually ranks tied for ninth in the nation on floor, returns to action with the Scarlet Knights on Friday, January 28 at Kent State.
