EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Rutgers tennis dropped a 5-2 decision against NJIT on Friday afternoon at the East Brunswick Racquet Club. The Scarlet Knights earned the team doubles point and a singles win in the match.

Rutgers notched the doubles point to start off the match with an advantage of 1-0. At the No. 2 spot, sophomores
Alisa Prinyarux and
Daira Cardenas cruised to a 6-0 mark.
Senior
Tess Fisher and
Minchae Kim also earned their second victory of the season, adding a 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot to secure the team tally.

Although NJITÂ claimed three singles matches, Cardenas secured a 7-6, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot to cut into the margin, 3-2. It marked her second singles victory of the season. The Highlanders, however, would hold on for the win.

Rutgers travels to Penn for its first road match of the year on Saturday, January 29. Match time is set for 12 PM in Philadelphia.
