Gymnastics Posts Top 10 Team Score in Dual at No. 22 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, OHIO –  Rutgers gymnastics battled in a close dual with No. 22 Ohio State, posting a 195.750 for a Top 10 mark in program history. The team total was the seventh highest mark in the record book, and fourth best road score for the Scarlet Knights. The Buckeyes inched in front with a 196.025 in the conference meet.
 
TOP THREE FINISHERS
Rutgers recorded six Top 3 finishes in the Big Ten dual. Junior Hannah Joyner placed first in the all-around (39.325) and on beam (9.900). Sophomore Emily Leese added a first-place finish on vault with a career-best 9.900. Graduate Belle Huang followed in second with a career-high 9.875 score in the event, while also adding a third-place finish on floor with a 9.900. Sophomore Stephanie Zannella recorded a career-high 9.875 on beam to place second in the event.
 
POWER ON VAULT
Emily Leese registered a first-place, career-high score of 9.900 on vault, having posted a 9.825 or higher in five consecutive meets this season. Leese's 9.9 is the second-highest score posted by a Rutgers gymnast in the event, just shy of the program record of 9.925 set by Luisa Leal in 2013.
 
Belle Huang added a career-best 9.875 for the second straight meet, finishing in second place on the night. Junior Hannah Joyner (9.825), senior Mia Betancourt (9.750), and freshman Isabella Hughes (9.725) added to the team vault score of 49.075, which match the fifth-best team score in RU history.
 
 
QUEEN OF THE FLOOR
Belle Huang, a Big Ten Specialist of the Week, eclipsed a 9.900 on floor for the fourth time this season, earning a third-place finish. The captain has posted two career-best 9.950 outings this year. Overall, she has notched a 9.9 or higher in the event 10 times in her career.
 
 
BEAM QUEEN
Hannah Joyner reached a 9.900 on beam for the second time this season, placing first in the event. The captain has reached 9.9 on beam 15 times in her career, owning the most career 9.9s for any RU gymnast across all four events.
