GAINESVILLE, FLA. –  Rutgers gymnastics started its 2022 season on the road at No. 2 Florida on Friday night. The quad meet featured UF, Northern Illinois and Texas Woman's.

The Scarlet Knights opened the meet on floor, as fifth-year senior
Belle Huang led the way in the event with a 9.900. Â Sophomore
Emily Leese kept the momentum going with a third-place finish on vault, posting a score of 9.825. Junior
Hannah Joyner and sophomore
Calah Newman competed all-around for the team, while a total of three freshmen appeared in their first collegiate meet for Rutgers.

Leese recorded a mark of 9.825 on vault, just shy of her career best of 9.850 in the event. She placed third in the meet, the first top three finish on vault in her career.

Huang began her extra year of eligibility, starting the night off strong with a 9.900 on floor. She has eclipsed 9.9 in the event seven times in her career, owning a career-high of 9.925.

Maya Jones, and
Anna Pagliaro all made their collegiate debuts in the meet. Among the returners, sophomore
Emily Leese made her collegiate debut on beam and floor for RU. Sophomore transfer made her Scarlet Knight debut, competing on beam.Â
