STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Rutgers track and field began the 2022 indoor season on Friday, Jan. 7 at the Wagner College Invitational, competing against 10 teams from around the Northeast at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island. Freshman
Chloe Timberg highlighted the Scarlet Knights' performances as she tied the school record in the pole vault.
"It was a great feeling to get out there and compete again," said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
Bobby Farrell. "This team has been focused and working hard all offseason. We only brought a small group to the Wagner Invitational, but we had a few big performances. We're excited to open up the whole squad next week in Kentucky."
The Scarlet Knights earned five event wins on the day, including a dominant performance in the field events as the men's side went 1-2-3 in the shot put. In addition to the men's shot put, Rutgers also took first in the women's 60-meter hurdles, women's shot put and men's and women's pole vault.
Timberg tied the school record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.20m (13' 9.25"). Her performance in the event was the seventh-best height in the country this season. The Rutgers record was previously set by current Scarlet Knight Ka'Lelia Abrille who established the mark during the 2021 indoor season.

Jasmine Van Note who won the shot put with a throw of 14.19m (46' 6.75").
