PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers volleyball team returned home to Jersey Mike's Arena on Sunday to celebrate Title IX/Alumnae Day. The Scarlet Knights fell in straight sets, 25-20, 25-12, 25-16, to Maryland.

- SET 1 (20-25) | The two sides played to eight ties and six lead changes before the Terps were able to pull away late. One of Taylor Humphrey's four kills in the opener knotted the score at 13-13, but Maryland collected the next three kills to take the lead. The Terps pushed their lead to five at 20-15, but Rutgers did manage to close the gap to 22-19 with three-straight points thanks to a kill apiece from Bekah Williams and Lauren DeLo in between a Terp attack error. Humphrey's final attack had Rutgers down 23-20 before Maryland closed the set out with a kill by Laila Ivey and an ace by Erin Engel. Â
- SET 2 (12-25) | The Terps hit .480 committing only one attack error on 25 swings. Williams, meanwhile, posted five kills hitting .571 for the Scarlet Knights. Maryland took the second set's first four points and held the lead throughout. Â
- SET 3 (16-25) | The final set was close early as Rutgers opened with a 9-7 advantage and a swing by Alissa Kinkela put the Scarlet Knights in front 11-9. Maryland, however, produced a 9-0 run to change the lead back to its favor for good. Alyssa Nayar came up with six of her nine digs in the frame.

- The Rutgers volleyball team is back on the road to meet Illinois on Wednesday, Oct. 12 and No. 6 Ohio State on Saturday, Oct. 15.
- Wednesday's game with the Fighting Illini will air on ESPNU with Drew Carter and Missy Whittemore on the call. First serve is set for 8:00 p.m. (ET).
- Saturday's game with the Buckeyes will serve up action at 5:00 p.m. (ET).
