Grkovic & Vernon Enter Blocks Leaders List In Setback At No. 3 Wisconsin

MADISON, WISC. – Both Megan Vernon and Kristina Grkovic entered the Rutgers rally-era total blocks leaders list on Friday night, but it was No. 3 Wisconsin extending its win streak to 13 straight in getting the 25-13, 25-12, 25-11 victory at the UW Fieldhouse.

- Freshman Taylor Humphrey and junior Kristina Grkovic both registered eight kills apiece to lead the Rutgers offense. Humphrey has led the attack in four of the last five matches, including the last four straight.
- Both redshirt junior Lauren DeLo and senior Alyssa Nayar were in double-figure assists with 15 and 10 respectively. DeLo surpassed the 600-career assist mark.
- On defense, junior Madison Chitty came up with six digs, while Grkovic and Megan Vernon had three blocks with both totaling 93 on the season and entering the rally-era leaders' list at number ten.

- SET 1 (13-25) | The hosts went out to a 7-1 lead in the opening set as the Badgers hit .406. Kristina Grkovic captured two-straight points for the Scarlet Knights to narrow the deficit down to 13-7. Wisconsin, however, captured the next five points before a Lexi Visintine swing put an end to the burst. It was Visitine's second point off one of her four attempts in the frame. One of Alissa Kinkela's team-leading four kills brought the score to 21-10 as the two squads traded points the rest of the way.
- SET 2 (12-25) | An 8-1 run by the Badgers gave them a 16-5 advantage. Rutgers put together back-to-back-to-back points off one of four kills by Taylor Humphrey, a block by Megan Vernon to put her into the rally-era top 10 total blocks leaders list and a swing from Kinkela. The trio of Scarlet Knight points saw RU down 18-11 before Wisconsin closed by outscoring RU 7-1.
- SET 3 (12-25) | Wisconsin hit a match-best .529 in the final set. The Scarlet Knights thwarted set point three times before the Badgers took the win. Grkovic collected four kills in the last stanza while her lone block of the set pushed her into the Rutgers rally-era top 10 list.

- Megan Vernon and Kristina Grkovic both enter the Rutgers rally-era total blocks leaders list at No. 10 with 93 total rejections in 2022. They need three more blocks to tie Mikaela Matthews (2013) for ninth, four more to tie Lauren Cloyd (2016) for eighth and five additional to tie Inna Balyko (2018) for seventh.
- Grkovic needs four more blocks and Vernon five more to enter the rally-era block assist leaders list.
- With her 15 assists, Lauren DeLo surpassed the 600 career assist mark. She needs 43 more helpers to crack the rally-era top 10 list.
