Swimming & Diving Wins Four of Six Day One Events At Hawkeye Challenge With Five Top 10 Performances

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Day one action at the Hawkeye Challenge saw Rutgers swimming and diving deliver victories in four of the day's six events – 1M, 500 free, 50 free and 400 medley relay - and register five top 10 performances.
Day two action at the Hawkeye Challenge on Friday, Dec. 2 will feature the 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 3M Dive and 800 Free Relay. Prelims begin at 11 a.m. (ET) while finals will take place at 6 p.m. (ET) with action streamed on Big Ten Network Plus.

| FROM THE POOL DECK |
- The Scarlet Knights swept 1M competition with sophomore Giulia Vittorioso, senior Savana Trueb and sophomore Holly Prasanto all posting scores among the RU Top 10.
- Graduate students Madison Murtagh and Rachel Kimmel also added their names to more top 10 lists in the 500 free and 200 IM respectively.
- Murtagh won the 500 free with an NCAA B cut while sophomore Sofia (Lobova) Maksimova brought home the top time in the 50 free with a B cut along with a first-place finish with the 400 medley relay team.
| DIVING |
- The Scarlet Knights went 1-2-3 on 1M collecting a pair of scores among the best in RU history. Giulia Vittorioso won the event scoring 312.55 for the fourth-best score in RU history while runner-up Savana Trueb posted a score of 310.10 for the fifth-best score "On The Banks". Holly Prasanto finished third scoring 292.05 and maintaining 10th on the all-time list.
| DISTANCE |
- Madison Murtagh raced to the third fastest time in RU history in winning the 500 free. She won by a .25 second margin with a time of 4:44.72 to produce an NCAA B cut and dropped 2.58 seconds off her prelim time.
| SPRINTS |
- Rachel Kimmel added herself to another Rutgers top 10 times list with a third-place performance in the 200 IM. She hit the wall in 2:00.99 marking the third fastest time in the event by a Scarlet Knight and just shy of an NCAA B cut.
- Rutgers took the top two spots in the 50 free led by Sofia (Lobova) Maksimova's top time of 22.55. Sofia Chichaikina, meanwhile, tied for second coming in at 22.83.
| RELAYS |
- The 400 medley relay squad of Alice Scarabelli, Rachel Kimmel, Sofia (Lobova) Maksimova and Sofia Chichaikina combined for a time of 3:37.87 taking 10.77 seconds off their last appearance.
- The 200 free relay with Makismova, Giulia Ghidini, Julia Bartoszewiz and Jillian Ruffner placed fifth with a season-best 1:33.01.
