
Weaver Claims Unattached Individual Title at Wilkes Open

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Dylan Weaver (157) secured an individual title competing unattached at the 89th Wilkes Open on Thursday in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Weaver was one of eight from Rutgers wrestling to place at the open tournament, as six Scarlet Knights – Brandan Chletsos (133), Joe Fongaro (141), Nico Messina (133), Luke Gayer (165), Stratos Kantanas (184) and John O'Donnell (HWT) – competed attached.
Weaver went 4-0 en route to his individual title at 157 pounds, which included a 28-second fall over Josh Bonomo (Bloomsburg) to reach the finals of his bracket. Weaver was one of six to make it to semifinal bouts along with Fongaro, Gayer, O'Donnell, Devon Britton (133) and Michael Toranzo (184).
