Three School Records, Two Podium Finishes & NCAA B Cut On Day One of B1G Swimming & Diving Championships

MADISON, Wisc. – Three new school records, two podium finishes and an NCAA B cut highlighted day one action of the 2022 Big Ten women's swimming and diving championship for the Scarlet Knights.
Rutgers is currently off to its best Big Ten Championship start sitting in seventh with 90 points.

| RELAYS |
- The 200 medley relay team of Alice Scarabelli, Tina Celik, Sofia Lobova and Giulia Ghidini raced to an eighth-place finish and new Scarlet Knight record with a time of 1:39.38.
- The 800 free relay team also broke the oldest Rutgers record in the books as the quartet of Sofia Chichaikina, Scarabelli, Ghidini and Eleonora Trentin placed seventh coming in at 7:10.24. Chichaikina also broke the Scarlet Knight 200 free record and posted an NCAA B cut with her leadoff time of 1:46.12.
| KNIGHT NOTES |
- The 200 medley relay team bested the previous record of 1:39.57 set by Joanna Wu, Rachel Stoddard, Francesca Stoppa and Sarah Coyne in 2016.
- It was the third podium finish for a Rutgers 200 medley relay squad.
- The 800 free relay topped the oldest time in the Rutgers record book of 7:13.94 captured by All-American Allyson Parent, All-American Laura Wright, Sarah Bicknell and Rutgers Hall of Famer and US National Team member Kelly Harrigan in 2006
- Sofia Chichaikina reset the 200 free record of 1:47.18 she had captured at the 2020 Big Ten Championships also serving as the leadoff on the 800 free relay.
- It was the highest finish and second podium trip for a Scarlet Knight 800 free squad at the Big Ten Championships.
