Swimming and Diving Hosts Invitational on Friday-Saturday

Five Teams Come to RU to Compete in Sessions Friday (5 PM) and Saturday (10 AM and 4 PM)
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers swimming and diving is in action this weekend for the first time to kick start the 2026-27 season. The Scarlet Knights host an invitational on Friday, welcoming competitors from Army, Northeastern, Fordham, St. Bonaventure andĀ Boston College (men's only). The meet will have one session on Friday (5 pm) and then two sessions on Saturday (10 am and 4 pm).Ā
This will be the first action for the Scarlet Knights this season, competing at their home pool at the Rutgers Aquatics Center. Rutgers will compete in diving on the 3M board on Friday and then the 1M board on Saturday. Swimming events will be spread across the sessions.Ā
Rutgers features a pair of Big Ten Watch List selections in Anna Vlachou (swimming) and Katerina Hoffman (diving). Vlachou set school records last year in the 100 Free and the 100 Fly, while Hoffman was a Second Team All-American in the 3-Meter.Ā
The team continues to make strides under the guidance of head coach Jon Maccoll, who took the helm of the program in 2017.Ā Over the last nine years, 22Ā individuals and 13 relay teams have reached top-eight status, including 68Ā finalists since 2022.Ā
This will be the first meet for a highly talented group of freshmen that have the coaching staff very excited about their potential. RU has nine freshmen swimmers ready to compete for the first time: Lena Bauer, Mia Boccio, Madelyn Cassidy, Sophie Koroma, Alexis Mesina, Adele Miksa, Florence Robatille, Grace Sorensen and Journei Webster.Ā
"I'm looking forward to our meets this season," senior Brooke Thompson said. "I think that the meets will be electric and really high energy. We have amazing people coming into the program and we're starting to execute and get faster."Ā
