Joyner Places Third on Beam and in All-Around at Big Five Meet

TOLEDO, OHIO – Rutgers gymnastics competed in Saturday night's Big Five Meet hosted at Elevate the Stage in Toledo. The Scarlet Knights posted their highest ever team total at a Big Five Meet with a 195.475, led by junior Hannah Joyner with a third-place finish on beam and in the all-around.
The meet also featured No. 14 Michigan State, No. 6 Minnesota, Nebraska, and Penn State, marking the second Big Five Meet of the weekend. The results of the Friday and Saturday's Big Five Meets will determine seeding for the Big Ten Championships in March.
Joyner posted a third-place finish on beam with a 9.900, reaching the mark for the fifth time this season. The school record holder in the event has reached a beam score of 9.9 or higher 18 times in her career, the most of any Scarlet Knight gymnast.
The Waldorf, Maryland, native also finished third in the all-around, recording a 39.250. Joyner, the first in school history to eclipse a 9.9 on all four events, holds the most scores of 9.9 or above with a total of 23 in her career.
The Scarlet Knights recorded a strong outing on the floor, posting a team total of 49.175 for their best event of the night. Senior Belle Huang, sophomore Emily Wood, and Joyner all registered a score of 9.875 to lead RU. Sophomore Calah Newman and Avery Balser added marks of 9.775, while freshman Anna Pagliaro posted a 9.725.
