
Kaplan and Fisher Claim Singles Wins for Tennis Against Yale

Fisher and Kim capture ranked doubles victory
EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. - Rutgers tennis fell to Yale by a margin of 5-2 on Saturday at the East Brunswick Racquet Club. Seniors Tess Fisher and Sydney Kaplan contributed singles victories in the match for RU.

Freshman Minchae Kim and FIsher started the match off with a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, defeating Yale's Jessie Gong and Chelsea Kung who are ranked No. 37 nationally. The Scarlet Knight duo remains undefeated as a pair in doubles action with a 5-0 record.
Yale answered back with a win at No. 3 spot. Although sophomore Daira Cardenas and freshman Jackeline Lopez battled until the final point, the Bulldogs took a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot for the team doubles point.

At the No. 3 singles spot, Kaplan bounced back from a 6-1 loss in the first, earning a 6-4 win in the second. She then secured the win with a 10-7 victory in the tiebreaker. It marked her fourth singles win of the year.
Fisher added a win at the No. 1 spot for the Scarlet Knights. After winning the first set 6-1, she was slightly edged 7-6 (5) in the next. She sealed the win with a 10-7 edge in the tiebreaker as well. It was her fourth singles victory of the season.

The Scarlet Knights return to action on Friday, March 4 for two matches at the East Brunswick Racquet Club. Rutgers first hosts Long Island University for an 11 a.m. contest before matching up with Seton Hall at 3:30 p.m.
