Ball Added to Tewaaraton Award Watch List

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Junior Meghan Ball has been added to the 2022 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, announced by the organization on Thursday. The list includes the top players from across the country and highlights the early contenders for the 2022 Tewaaraton Award.

Ball joins classmate Cassidy Spilis on the prestigious list, as both appear among the nation's best for the second consecutive season.

Ball has been a defensive force for the Scarlet Knights during the first seven games of the 2022 campaign, as she leads the team in draw controls (41), ground balls (20) and caused turnovers (17). Ball has secured six or more draw controls in five games this season and has caused multiple turnovers in five outings.

A two-time Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week this season, Ball has helped RU to its best start in program history with its 7-0 record to begin the 2022 campaign. Ball was a First Team All-Big Ten selection and All-American last season for Rutgers, as he helped the team to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1999 and its first NCAA Tournament win ever.

Rutgers continues its season on Saturday when it plays at No. 21 James Madison in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
