Gymnastics Shatters Program Record Team Score with a 196.400 in Regular Season Finale

RALEIGH, N.C. - Rutgers gymnastics recorded its highest overall score in program history, posting a 196.400 team total in its regular season finale on Friday night. It marks the third time an RU squad has eclipsed a score of 196, resetting the previous record set in 2014.
Sophomore Emily Wood finished second on floor with a career-high 9.900. On beam, classmate Stephanie Zannella placed third in the event with a career-high 9.900. Junior Hannah Joyner tied for third on beam (9.900) and finished second in the all-around (39.350).
Wood became the eighth gymnast recorded in RU history to reach a 9.9 mark on floor. Zannella eclipsed 9.9 on beam as the sixth gymnast in RU history to record the mark and fourth this season. Joyner, the program record holder in the event, posted her 19th career score of 9.9 or higher on beam.
Rutgers established a new standard with a team total of 196.400 in the quad meet. The mark shattered the previous record of 196.225 set in March of 2014. Overall this season, the team has now set five Top 10 team totals.
The Scarlet Knights also posted Top 6 team event scores on vault, beam and floor. The team beam total of 49.250 marks the third-highest score in the record books. The total of 49.300 on floor is the fourth best, while the 49.075 on vault is the sixth-best score in program history.

Rutgers is set to compete at the Big Ten Championships on Saturday, March 19 hosted by Ohio State.
