DETROIT – Greg Bulsak (197) and
Sebastian Rivera (141) secured All-America honors during Session IV of the 2022 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Detroit. It marks the seventh consecutive season two or more Scarlet Knights finished top-eight in the country at the same national tournament under head coach
Scott Goodale.
Rivera defeated No. 7 seed Clay Carlson (South Dakota State) in his 'Blood Round' match to collect his fifth All-America laurel, while Bulsak rallied for a 3-2 decision over No. 8 seed Lou DePrez (Binghamton) to guarantee his spot on the podium for the first time in his career.
After he went 2-0 Friday night, Rivera faces No. 4 seed Real Woods (Stanford) in his consolation semifinal match. Bulsak wrestles for seventh against No. 3 seed Eric Schultz (Nebraska). Both matches take place during Session V on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.

Rivera landed a single leg for two early points in the first period and rode out Carlson for close to two minutes for a 2-0 lead to open the match. Carlson responded with a takedown in the second, but Rivera countered with his second takedown of the bout en in the third period to lock up All-America accolades. Rivera followed with a tech fall against No. 10 seed Jakob Bergeland (Minnesota), getting four-point tilts in back-to-back periods to advance.
Bulsak rallied in his match with DePrez. Leading 1-0 after two with a neutral start in the third, DePrez took down Bulsak for a 2-1 lead. A scrambled ensued for 30 seconds or more before Bulsak revered DePrez for the lead and the eventual lead. Bulsak then wrestled hard against No. 10 seed Yonger Bastida (Iowa State) in his consolation quarterfinal match before he suffered a 4-3 loss.
Tomorrow's session, which includes all placement matches, will begin at 11 a.m. ET and broadcast on ESPNU.
