COLUMBUS, OHIO – Rutgers gymnastics recorded a team total of 195.750 at the 2022 Big Ten Championships on Saturday afternoon hosted at Ohio State. The team score marked the highest total posted at a Big Ten Championship for the Scarlet Knights, coming in as the ninth highest score in the program record books.
Junior
Hannah Joyner was named to the All-Championship team, finishing tied for seventh overall in the all-around with a score of 39.350. Joyner was sixth overall on beam (9.900) and seventh overall on floor (9.900). Graduate
Belle Huang also tied for seventh on floor with an identical mark of 9.900.
In Session I of the Big Ten Championships,
Hannah Joyner tied for first in the all-around of Session I with a 39.350. Additionally, Joyner tied for third on beam and floor with identical marks of 9.900 in each event. She also finished fourth in the session on vault with a 9.850.
Graduate
Belle Huang tied for third on floor with a 9.900 of her own, while sophomore
Emily Leese added a 9.850 on vault to tie for fourth in the session.
Rutgers earned a victory over Penn State in Session I of the conference championships with the highest team score the Scarlet Knights have posted at Big Ten's. This year's mark of 195.750 topped the previous high of 195.675 set at last year's championships.
Rutgers program-record Big Ten score also marked a top 10 program total. The mark of 195.750 ties for the ninth best total and sixth highest road score set by the Scarlet Knights. The team floor score of 49.200 ranks fifth in the record books, while the team vault score of 49.125 ranks fifth as well.
