ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Rutgers graduate student Abigail Knapton was crowned the NCAA Zone A 3M Diving Champion on Tuesday afternoon.Â
Knapton was the leader out of prelims with her score of 332.15 and remained at the top of the leaderboard in finals totaling a score of 648.90 on her 12 total dives. The Omaha, Nebraska native also qualifies for the NCAA Championship on 3M for the fifth time in her career. She placed eighth in 2021, 15th in 2019, 22nd in 2018 and 30th in 2017.Â
Yesterday, Knapton qualified on 1M with a fourth-place performance.
Junior Savana Trueb also qualified for the NCAA Championships on 3M placing fourth with a score of 590.80. Her score of 304.60 on her six finals dives were a season-best. Her performance qualifies her for her first NCAA Championship appearance on 3M.
Trueb also qualified for the NCAA Championships on 1M on Monday taking third overall.
Freshman Holly Prasanto also reached finals for the second-straight day. She was 12th out of prelims and climbed to seventh overall with a total score of 586.00 and a personal best 310.85 during finals.
Also competing on 3M on Tuesday were freshman Giulia Vittorioso and senior Jenna Douglass. Vittorioso finished in 18th with a score of 265.70 while Douglass placed 32nd scoring 241.35.
NCAA Zone A competition wraps up on Wednesday when Knapton and Trueb go after the top five positions to qualify for the 2022 NCAA Championships on platform. Live results will be available at DiveMeets.com.
