Six Divers To Compete at NCAA Zones

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Six Rutgers divers have qualified for NCAA Zone A competition being held March 7-9 at Lejeune Hall on the campus of the United States Naval Academy.
Senior Megan DeMeo will compete on 1M, freshmen Holly Prasanto and Giulia Vittorioso along with senior Jenna Douglass will dive on both 1M and 3M, while graduate student Abigail Knapton and junior Savana Trueb go after NCAA Championships berths on 1M, 3M and platform.
1M will take place on Monday, March 7, with 3M on Tuesday, March 8 and platform on Wednesday, March 9.
The top five finishers from each event will qualify for the 2022 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships being held on March 16-19 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Knapton appeared on the podium three times at this year's Big Ten Championships. She finished fourth on 3M, sixth on 1M and placed seventh on platform with a new Rutgers record of 324.05. In addition to setting a new Scarlet Knights platform benchmark, she also placed her name second all-time on 3M (359.10) and third all-time on 1M (313.13) during the 2021-22 campaign. This will be the graduate student's fifth NCAA Zone appearance. Last season while at Nebraska, Knapton placed third on platform, fourth on 3M and 12th on 1M at zones going on to capture First-Team All-America honors in both platform and 3M with eighth-place finishes at the 2021 NCAA Championships.
Trueb placed eighth on 3M and was a consolation finalist on platform at the 2022 Big Ten Championships. Before Knapton's school record-setting platform performance at the conference championships, Trueb had reset the Scarlet Knight platform mark scoring a 295.60 at the Big Al Invite hosted by Princeton in December. Her name is also found among the RU top 10 with dives placing her fifth on 1M (298.95) and sixth on 3M (326.10). Trueb will be making her third NCAA Zone appearance having placed sixth on platform and 11th on 1M at zones last year with Missouri along with her second NCAA Championships appearance in 2021 on both boards.
Douglass returns for her third NCAA Zones appearance after reaching the finals on 1M and platform last season. In 2021, she finished ninth on 1M and 18th overall on platform. At this year's Big Ten Championships, Douglass was a consolation finalist on 1M and captured the 10th best score in Rutgers history on platform (209.50).
Prasanto landed in Rutgers' all-time top 10 on both platform and 1M in her first season "On The Banks". She is currently seventh all-time on platform (223.45) and 10th all-time on 1M (288.68). During the dual meet season, she was third on 1M at the Big Al Invite and against Army and placed third on 3M in meets with Nebraska and Princeton.
Vittorioso, who is also in her first season at Rutgers having the Scarlet Knights this spring, also makes her NCAA Zone debut. In her first dual meet appearance as a Scarlet Knight, she was runner-up on 1M and fourth on 3M against Villanova.
DeMeo, meanwhile, will be making her first NCAA Zone appearance. She qualified for 1M scoring a personal best 280.05 in her final dual meet at Nebraska in late January.
