ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Rutgers graduate student
Abigail Knapton earned her second NCAA Zone A crown on Wednesday winning the platform title while junior
Savana Trueb was the runner-up.
Both Scarlet Knights will dive at the 2022 NCAA Championships on 1M, 3M and platform. The NCAA Championships will be held on Mar. 16-19 in Atlanta, Georgia at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
Knapton was third coming out of prelims with a score of 257.90 and rocketed to the top of the leaderboard with a school record 331.75 in finals. Altogether she totaled a score of 589.65. The Omaha, Nebraska native qualifies for the NCAA Championship on platform for the fifth time in her career. She also won NCAA Zone D platform titles in 2019 and 2017 while at Nebraska. Her NCAA appearances on platform include fourth place in 2017, fifth place in 2019 and eighth place in both 2021 and 2018.
Knapton also won the 3M diving title and placed fourth on 1M at this year's NCAA Zones.
Trueb, meanwhile, finished in second place on platform totaling a score of 569.15 over her 10 dives. She was in first out of prelims with a 284.05 and totaled 285.10 in finals. The Colorado Spring, Colorado product will be making her second NCAA Championship appearance on platform. In 2021, Trueb finished 25
th in the event.
Trueb also took fourth on 3M and was third on 1M at this year's NCAA Zones.
