PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers diving squad is down in Annapolis this week, set to compete across three days at the Navy Invitational. Ranked No. 6 in the USDPCA Poll, the divers head down to Lejeune Hall, the site of the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in March.
All six divers on the RU squad are registered to compete:
Sephora Ford,
Katerina Hoffman,
Giana Lawrence,
Amelia Scott,
Bailee Sturgill and
Madilyn Varnum. They will compete in a pool of nearly 40 divers including competitors from Navy, Villanova, George Washington, NC State and James Madison. Sturgill is the reigning Big Ten Diver of the Week after she posted a personal best 337.73 on the 3-meter dive to win the event at No. 25 Princeton. Her score is eighth on the school's all-time top ten list.
One event will be contested each day at the event. Thursday is the 3-meter dive, Friday is the 1-meter, and Saturday is platform. There will be prelims and finals each day, with diving finals slated the night session at 6 pm.
Fans wishing to attend must park outside of the USNA and walk through the gate one visitors center. Lejeune Hall is 50 yards from the visitors center. Those 18 and older must present either a passport or a drivers license with a REAL ID -- and those 17 and younger without one of those IDs must be accompanied by an adult.
