| STATISTICALLY SPEAKING |
- Graduate student Gabrielle Callaway, who is ninth in the Big Ten in runs scored, claimed both Scarlet Knight scores.
- Freshman Maddie Lawson was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Payton Lincavage went 1-for-2 with a run scored.
- Junior Jaden Vickers began the game in the circle tossing two innings and allowed one run on four hits while fanning a pair of Pirates. Classmate Ashley Hitchcock dropped to 9-13 in the loss in 2.2 innings of work. She struck out four and gave up three hits.
| THE RUNDOWN |
- The Pirates loaded the bases in the top of the second with a sacrifice fly from Lauren Caye to center giving the visitors the 1-0 edge. The Scarlet Knights did prevent another run from coming in on a Kayla Bock throw from right allowing Katie Wingert to apply the tag on Miranda Arruda to retire the side.
- The Scarlet Knights came back in the bottom of the fourth to go up 2-1. The Pirates tried to catch Payton Lincavage on Maddie Lawson's bunt, but the Scarlet Knight was safe and a misplay at the plate allowed Gabrielle Callaway to reach home and give RU the lead.
- Seton Hall, however, took the lead in their next trip to the plate on three hits. The bases were once again loaded giving Jenna Blevins the opportunity to knock in two runs on a single to left with Olivia Gilbert following on an RBI single to right for a 3-2 advantage. The Pirates added another run off a wild pitch.
- Rutgers added a run in the bottom of the sixth. Callaway came home on a double steal attempt but her run still had the Scarlet Knights down by two, 5-3.
