No. 14 Women's Lacrosse Welcomes Arizona State Sunday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 14 Rutgers women's lacrosse (10-1, 1-1) hosts Arizona State (4-6) for a noon out-of-conference matchup on Sunday in Piscataway. It marks the first matchup between the two programs after the Sun Devils began their first varsity season in 2018.

Admission to all 2022 home games is free. Parking for 2022 women's lacrosse home games is also free, but visitors must register their vehicle with the University through this link. Visitors only need to register their vehicle once for the entire season. Parking for 2022 home games is in the Scarlet Lot outside the West entrance of SHI Stadium.

Sunday Promotion: Team Post Giveaway
  • First 500 fans in the door will receive a free 2022 Rutgers women's lacrosse team poster.
  • An autograph session with the Scarlet Knights will take place after Sunday's game on the East Concourse of SHI Stadium.
Last Time Out
  • The Scarlet Knights defeated No. 13 Michigan, 13-8, on Thursday afternoon in Piscataway. Graduate student Taralyn Naslonski produced a season-high seven points on six goals and an assist to move into second on the Scarlet Knights' all-time points list.
  • RU produced its fourth win over a ranked foe this season and locked up its first double-digit win total since the 2010 campaign. Rutgers has also defeated No. 18 Temple, No. 20 Johns Hopkins and No. 21 James Madison this season.
  • The Scarlet Knights forced the Wolverines into 17 turnovers and tallied three goals on player-up opportunities to secure their second Big Ten Conference win in as many chances. Naslonski netted five of her game-high six goals in the first half, junior Cassidy Spilis collected four goals and classmate Jenna Byrne added two goals and an assist to pace the Scarlet Knights' offense.

  • Rutgers remained No. 13 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine Top 20 and moved back one spot to No. 14 in this week's ILWomen/IWLCA Coaches Poll. Five Big Ten programs - No. 3 Northwestern, No. 8 Maryland, No. 13 Michigan, No. 14 Rutgers and No. 20 Johns Hopkins - all appeared in the coaches poll this week, while Penn State received votes.
Double-Digit Wins
  • With their win over Michigan, the Scarlet Knights locked up 10 wins for the first time since the 2010 campaign.
  • Rutgers has produced seven 10-plus win seasons since its first year of varsity lacrosse in 1977. Its most in a season was 14 in 1999, when the Scarlet Knights advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in their history.

Naslonski Approaching History
  • With her seven points Thursday against the Wolverines, graduate student Taralyn Naslonski moved past Katie Batiuk (2004-07) for second on RU's all-time points list. At 223 career points, Naslonski needs just 10 more to pass Denise Reed (1987-90) for first on the all-time list.
  • Naslonski is also third all time at Rutgers with 159 career goals and needs two to pass Batiuk for second on the all-time list.

Midseason All-Americans
  • Juniors Meghan Ball and Cassidy Spilis were named 2022 Inside Lacrosse/ILWomen Midseason All-Americans. Both earned second-team laurels by the publication and appear on the prestigious list for the second consecutive season. The duo has helped Rutgers women's lacrosse to its best start in program history and first 10-win season since the 2010 campaign.
Ball Secures 150 Career Draw Controls
  • Junior Meghan Ball secured the 150th draw control of her career in the win over Michigan and is second in program history with 151 draw controls in three seasons "On the Banks". Ball, Cassidy Spilis (130) and Marin Hartshorn (127) all eclipsed 100 career draw controls this season and sit No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, on RU's all-time list.
Kelly Dishing with the Best of Them
  • Graduate student Stephanie Kelly is second in the Big Ten and fourth nationally with 28 assists in RU's first 11 games this season. Kelly - who is second on the team with 44 points on 16 goals and 28 assists - has produced two or more assists in nine games this spring and has dished two assists in three of the Scarlet Knights' past four outings.
  • Earlier this week, Kelly was named to the Australian Women's Lacrosse team, announced by the organization. Kelly will compete for Team Australia the 2022 World Lacrosse World Championships, which begin on June 29 in Towson, Maryland.
Scouting Arizona State
  • The Sun Devils, who have received votes this season in the IWLCA Coaches Poll, own a 4-6 record. ASU lost 16-4 at No. 5 Stony Brook on Friday to open its East Coast road trip.
  • Arizona State owns one of the top draw units in the Pac-12 and is 22nd nationally with 15.60 draw controls per game.
  • Emily Glagolev leads the team with 45 points on 23 assists and 22 goals this season. Carly Adams (23) and Taylor Pinzone (21) have also netted more than 20 goals for the Sun Devils.
  • Katie Vahle has started all 10 games in cage for ASU and owns 14.59 goals against average and a .369 save percentage.
  • Assistant coach Nicole Graziano was an assistant at Rutgers from 2017-19.
