LINCOLN, Neb. – Rutgers softball dropped the third game of the series against Nebraska on Saturday at Bowlin Field. The host Cornhuskers shutout the Scarlet Knights, 9-0.
The Scarlet Knights fell to 23-15 overall and 1-5 in the Big Ten. The Cornhuskers won their 10
th-straight improving to 25-9 overall and remaining undefeated in conference action at 5-0.

- Kyleigh Sand led Rutgers at the plate in the series hitting .571 (4-for-7) but had her 11-game hit streak come to an end on Sunday. The sophomore shortstop collected a walk extending her on-base streak to 19 games.
- Sophomore Leilani Chavez collected RU's lone hit with a single past third base in the third inning.
- Junior righthander Ashley Hitchcock tossed two innings in the loss dropping to 9-11 on the season.
- The Cornhuskers went out to a 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the second. Starting pitcher Kaylin Kinney, who would improve to 1-1 on the year, went over the fence in left with two outs in her first plate appearance.
- The hosts pushed ahead 8-0 with five runs on four hits and a pair of miscues in the third. Mya Felder connected for a two-run home run, while Kinney returned to the plate for an RBI single and Cam Ybarra pushed through two runs on a hit to left. Rutgers stopped another run from scoring on Ybarra's base hit catching Billie Andrew's at the plate on the throw in from Gabrielle Callaway and Payton Lincavage on the relay.
- Nebraska added a run in the fourth scoring on an error. With Cornhuskers on first and second, Ava Bredwell hit into a fielder's choice with RU getting the out at second. In trying to get the double play, however, the Scarlet Knights overthrew first base allowing Camyl Armendariz to round third and score.
The Rutgers softball team begins a three-game series at Indiana beginning Friday, April 8. The Saturday contest with the Hoosiers will be televised by the Big Ten Network at 7:30 p.m.
