
Women’s Lacrosse Earns 2022 IWLCA Academic Accolades

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse was named a 2022 IWLCA Academic Squad, announced this afternoon by the organization. The Scarlet Knights were one of 36 programs across Division I to earn the designation after they finished with over a 3.2 team GPA for the academic year.
In addition, 12 student-athletes earned individual recognition by the IWLCA - Jenna Byrne, Ashley Campo, Sarah Cedarstrand, Janey Galski, Marin Hartshorn, Stephanie Kelly, Taralyn Naslonski, Lindsay Newton, Shannon Siebold, Cassidy Spilis, Alexis Watson and Linda Zamrowski. To be eligible, an individual student-athlete must have produced a 3.5 or higher GPA during the 2021-22 scholastic year.
Rutgers enjoyed success in the classroom this season, as it landed 26 student-athletes on the 2022 Spring Academic All-Big Ten list and had another 14 earn Big Ten Distinguished Scholar accolades. The Scarlet Knights finished with a cumulative 3.64 GPA during the 2022 spring semester, as 30 student-athletes posted 3.0 or higher GPAs.
It was an unforgettable season for Rutgers on the field in 2022, as the Scarlet Knights put together their best season in their 46-year history. Under the guidance of Big Ten Coach of the Year Melissa Lehman, RU registered a program-best 16 victories, advanced to the Big Ten Tournament Final for the first time ever, produced its second consecutive NCAA Tournament opening-round victory and registered its first-ever top-10 final IWLCA ranking.
