
Cross Country Wraps Up Action at Big Ten Preview

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Rutgers men's and women's cross country finished action at the Big Ten Preview meet on Friday afternoon at the U-M Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Alex Carlson registered a top-20 result to pace the women, while Justin Cornetta crossed the line in 29th to lead the men. As a team, the women finished ahead of Iowa for fifth in the meet and the men placed sixth.
"We gained valuable experience on the championship course that will be used for the Big Ten Championship later this fall," said cross country head coach Matthew Jelley. "Our effort will pay dividends on our return trip."
Carlson finished with a time of 21:48.5 – good for 18th in the 81-runner field. Kassidy Johnson placed 23rd with a result of 22:02.7, followed by Sofia Condron (27th) to give the Scarlet Knights three runners within the top 30.
For the men, Cornetta registered a time of 18:48.5 to finish 29th in the 67-runner field. Alec Snell (43rd) and William Hare (48th) all finished within the top 50, while Will Berger placed 51st with a time of 19:24.7.
Rutgers now preps for the Iona Meet of Champions, held Friday, Sept. 16 at Van Cortlandt Park in New Rochelle, New York.
