Madyson Chitty Cracks Rally-Era Career Dig Top 10 In B1G Opener Setback To Michigan

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers volleyball opened up the Big Ten schedule on Friday against Michigan at Jersey Mike's Arena with the Wolverines topping the Scarlet Knights 25-15, 27-17, 25-11.

- Junior Kristina Grkovic led Rutgers with nine kills and three blocks.
- Redshirt junior Lauren DeLo added 21 assists.
- Junior Madyson Chitty collected a game-high 12 digs to surpass the 700-career dig mark and move into 10th on the rally-era career digs leaders list.

- SET 1 (15-25) | While Michigan went in front 7-3, Rutgers managed to cut the gap down to a point. Madyson Chitty capped a 4-1 run with an ace as the Scarlet Knights trailed 9-8 and a Wolverine service error saw RU down 10-9. Michigan, however, scored nine straight to take control. Kristina Grkovic collected three kills during the frame.
- SET 2 (17-25) | The Wolverines notched the set's first four points and extended their advantage to 15-7. The Scarlet Knights narrowed its deficit to 19-13 behind a pair of kills from Alissa Kinkela, a swing from Lauren DeLo and blocks by Grkovic and Taylor Humphrey. Rutgers thwarted three set-point attempts by the Wolverines including a kill by Grkovic. Grkovic would once again lead RU with a trio of kills and add a pair of blocks to her stat line in the set.
- SET 3 (11-25) | Michigan jumped out to an 11-4 advantage and ended the final set hitting .462. Rutgers, meanwhile, got another three kills from Grkovic. Kills by Megan Vernon and Humphrey saw RU trail 13-7 and one of Grkovic's swings had the Scarlet Knights down 15-9 before the Wolverines took a 9-1 run.
