Volleyball Drops Contest With No. 3 Nebraska

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Last season's national runner-ups defeated Rutgers volleyball on Friday night at Jersey Mike's Arena as No. 5 Nebraska picked up a 25-13, 25-7, 25-15 victory over the Scarlet Knights.

- Redshirt freshman Alissa Kinkela led Rutgers with eight kills with redshirt junior Lauren DeLo assisting the attack with 13 helpers.
- Junior Madyson Chitty led the Scarlet Knight defense with 16 digs while graduate student Megan Vernon picked up a pair of blocks.
- Nebraska entered the contest second in the nation in opponent attack percentage and went on to hit a season-high .402 and serve up a season-best 12 aces.

- SET 1 (13-25) | Nebraska opened up the match with a 7-1 advantage with a Kaitlyn Cord kill putting the Cornhuskers up by double digits at 15-5. Taylor Humphrey and Alissa Kinkela each had four kills for the Scarlet Knights. Kinkela made six swings and hit .500 for the frame.
- SET 2 (7-25) | The Cornhuskers hit a game-best .480 with only one attack error on their 25 swings. A Bekah Williams kill saw Rutgers down 9-4 before Nebraska closed on a 16-3 run.
- SET 3 (15-25) | Rutgers kept the set close early and was within a point five times. A kill from Megan Vernon saw RU trail 8-7 and an attack by Kinkela had the Scarlet Knights down 9-8, while a trio of Cornhusker errors saw the Scarlet Knights in the game at 11-10, 12-11 and 13-12. From there, Nebraska captured six-straight points to pull ahead. Kinkela and Vernon along with Williams each had a pair of kills in the final set.
