Swimming & Diving Takes First Place in All 15 Events in Win Over LIU

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The Rutgers women's swimming & diving team defeated LIU, 183-76, on Saturday morning at the Rutgers Aquatic Center. The Scarlet Knights used 15 first-place finishes in 15 events to claim the victory.
 
FROM THE POOL DECK
  • RU got off to a fast start and never looked back, claiming first place in every event en route to its 183-76 win.
  • Rutgers swept the podium in three separate events, the 200 medley relay, the 200 back, and platform diving.
  • Four different Scarlet Knights set new personal records in the meet, including Grace Weaver, Jade Smits, Tina Celik, and Ellie Schinsky.
  • On the boards, Giulia Vittorioso and Sephora Ford recorded NCAA zone qualifying scores in the platform dive competition.
RELAYS
  • The Scarlet Knights started off strong in the first event of the day, the 200 medley relay, sweeping the podium in the race. The team of Martyna Piesko, Tina Celik, Ellie Schinsky, and Jade Smits earned the win with their time of 1:44.87.
  • Smits, Piesko, Valeria Egorova, Ella Hall won the 200 free relay for Rutgers, swimming a 1:36.67 to earn the top spot on the podium.
SPRINTS
  • Ella Hall and Martyna Piesko packed a one-two punch to win the first sprint of the day for Rutgers. The duo claimed first and second place in the 200 free with their times of 1:55.30 and 1:58.14, respectively.
  • In the 100 back competition, Jade Smits set a new personal record, winning the race with a time of 57.88 seconds.
  • Elysha Pribadi and Apeksha Fernandes claimed the top-two spots in the 100 breast. The winning Pribadi swam a time of 1:04.35 to beat out the competition.
  • Viktoriia Kostromina won the 200 fly with a time of 2:06.62. Emma Solseng was right behind her, finishing the race in 2:13.83 to snag third.
  • Tina Celik set a new personal-best time of 24.83 seconds to earn the top spot in the 50 free.
  • Piesko and Ellie Schinsky claimed the two-top spots on the podium in the 100 free with their times of 51.57 and 54.13, respectively. Schinsky's second-place time marked a new personal record for the sophomore.
  • The Scarlet Knights swept the podium in the 200 back as Smits, Grace Weaver, and Makayla Ludwick swam strong races for RU. Smits' winning time of 2:07.35 was a new personal record.
  • Lili Horvath took first place in the 200 breast competition, winning the race with her time of 2:27.39.
  • Fernandes earned the 100 fly title with her time of 57.38 seconds.
  • Sofia Bartoloni swam a strong race in the 200 IM, winning the event with her time of 2:12.10.
DIVING
  • The Scarlet Knights took all three spots on the podium in platform diving competition. Giulia Vittorioso and Sephora Ford earned first and second place with their NCAA zone qualifying scores of 244.65 and 227.70, respectively. Amelia Scott earned a score of 217.95 to take third in the competition.
DISTANCE
  • Grace Weaver swam a personal-best time of 10:26.98 to win the 1000 free competition. Makayla Ludwick claimed third in the race with her time of 10:47.84.
  • Elysha Pribadi recorded her second win of the day in the 500 free, swimming a time of 5:00.54.
