PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers softball has unveiled its 2024 schedule with the 56-game schedule featuring seven opponents from last year's NCAA Tournament, seven ranked in the top 50 and 12 ranked in the top 100 of last year's final RPI, five nonconference tournaments, a 23-game Big Ten slate and 14 home game slate featuring Ohio State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Penn State, Hofstra and Monmouth.
During nonconference play, Rutgers will meet up with PAC-12 runner-up and future Big Ten opponent UCLA, NCAA super regional participant Duke, West Coast Conference Champion LMU, CAA Champion Hofstra and Big South Champion Campbell.
Rutgers' first six weekends will be spent in nonconference action in tournament play throughout the country including the prestigious Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
The season begins the weekend of February 9 in Houston, Texas with the Scarlet Knights joining host Houston, Indiana State and Colgate on the field to kick off the year.
RU will then travel to Miami, Florida for a weekend of softball hosted by FIU beginning on February 16 with the host Panthers also welcoming Army and Duke.
Rutgers will then make the first of two trips to the west coast to participate in the 20
th annual Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic the last weekend in February. On the docket for the Scarlet Knights are games with Hawaii, BYU, Loyola Marymount, UC Riverside, Cal Poly and CSU Northridge.
March kicks off with the Scarlet Knights heading to the first of two trips to ACC country with RU taking part in UNC's tournament beginning on March 1 with a field including the host Tar Heels along with Campbell, Lafayette and Rider.
Rutgers returns to California to take part in tournament action at Fresno State starting on March 8 with the host Bulldogs, Cal State Northridge and Nevada.
The Scarlet Knights will then remain out west for a game against future Big Ten opponent UCLA on March 12, contest at Cal Baptist on March 13 and a three-game series at UC San Diego on March 14-19.
The Scarlet Knights will be back in ACC territory on March 19 at Virginia before opening the Big Ten slate.
RU also has mid-week nonconference games at home with Hofstra on April 3 and Monmouth on May 1.
The 23-game Big Ten schedule, which includes 2023 NCAA Tournament field members Nebraska and Minnesota, gets underway the end of March.
The Scarlet Knights open conference action with a home series against Ohio State on March 22-23 followed by road dates with Purdue on March 29-31.
RU will host Wisconsin on April 5-7, travel to Maryland for a mid-week doubleheader on Apr. 9, and return home to welcome Nebraska on April 12-15.
Rutgers closes out April with a pair of series on the road traveling to Minnesota on April 19-21 and Michigan State on April. 26-28.
The Big Ten and regular season schedule comes to a close as the Scarlet Knights host Penn State on May 3-5.
The Big Ten Tournament begins on May 7 in Iowa City, Iowa.
All dates and times are subject to change. Home games will be played at the Rutgers Softball Complex. Admission to all home games is free.
