Joyner Finishes 2nd on Beam at Gymnastics Big Five Meet

Hannah Joyner’s 9.900 on beam leads Scarlet Knights to 49.225, the sixth-highest score in program history

LINCOLN, Neb. – Senior Hannah Joyner recorded a 9.900 on beam to tie for second in a loaded Big Five Meet field on Saturday at the Devaney Center. The big score pushed the Scarlet Knights to a 49.225 on the apparatus, the sixth-highest score in program history.
 
Rutgers teamed up for a 195.225, tying for the program's second-best score at the Big Fives since joining the conference in 2015. The Scarlet Knights finished fifth in their session behind No. 19 Michigan State (197.675), host No. 36 Nebraska (196.925), No. 13 Ohio State (196.750), and No. 18 Minnesota (195.800).
 
The Scarlet Knights closed out the afternoon on beam. Emily Leese chipped in a solid 9.775, with other standout performances from Gianna Ortiz (9.825) and Stephanie Zannella (9.875). Jacqueline Manifold reached a new career-high with a 9.850, and Joyner added her 9.900 – the 33rd overall 9.9 or higher of her collegiate career.
 
Earlier on vault, freshman Gabrielle Dildy performed her career-high with 9.800. Additionally, Anna Pagliaro returned from an injury absence and tied her career-high with a 9.825. Freshman Valentina Lorente-Garcia also tied her career-best at 9.725. Together, Rutgers posted its second-highest vault score of the season with a 48.925.
 
KNIGHT NOTES
  • Rutgers' 49.225 is tied for the sixth-highest beam score in team history. It is the third entry to the program's Top 10 beam list this season, joining the new program record 49.375 set on Jan. 21 and the 49.125 from last weekend.
  • Jacqueline Manifold recorded a career-high 9.850 on beam.
  • Freshman Gabrielle Dildy upped her career-high to 9.800 on vault.
  • Freshman Valentina Lorente-Garcia tied her career-high 9.725 on vault.
