PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's basketball's Paul Mulcahy has declared for the 2023 NBA Draft, while maintaining his NCAA eligibility, the senior guard announced on Thursday.
"We are thrilled for Paul to explore the opportunity of declaring for the 2023 NBA Draft," head coach Steve Pikiell said. "Paul has become one of the all-time winners on and off of the basketball court at Rutgers and we will support him and his family through this exciting journey."
Mulcahy announced his decision with a brief letter to Rutgers Nation posted on his Instagram page. The Bayonne, N.J. native has one year of NCAA eligibility remaining.
Mulcahy has had one of the best winning careers in Rutgers basketball history and is currently fourth all-time in school history in career assists (457 assists). He has scored 818 career points, has 457 rebounds and 112 career steals.
Mulcahy has run the Scarlet Knights offense at the point guard position for the last two seasons and has shot a lethal 45.1 percent from the field in career (308-683). RU has had four-straight winning seasons for the first time in 31 years with Mulcahy on the roster. RU is (73-57) in that period.
Throughout Mulcahy's career at RU, the Scarlet Knights have broken a 30-year NCAA tournament drought, won the first game in the tournament in 38 years, and went back-to-back to the tournament for the first time in 46 years.
RU has 12 ranked wins in Mulcahy's career (school record) and has beaten the No. 1 team in the nation for the first time in school history twice.
